Keynote Speaker - Dr Stephen Vaughan, MDDr. Vaughan is a Clinical Associate Professor and Infectious Diseases physician at the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine and is Adult ID Residency Program Director. He has served on the CATMAT (Committee to Advise on Tropical Medicine and Travel) committee, GeoSentinel Site Lead for Calgary and is the founder of the Canadian National Tropical Medicine Rounds. Dr. Vaughan’s research interests are in Tropical Infectious Diseases and Medical Education and he has won numerous clinical teaching awards.

Dr. Robyn HarrisonDr. Robyn Harrison is an Infectious Disease physician based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and a clinical Professor of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta. She also works as a provincial consultant for communicable disease prevention for healthcare workers within Alberta Health Services. She completed her medical degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, internal medicine and infectious diseases residency training at the University of Alberta, and a Master’s degree in epidemiology and public health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is a member of the Alberta Advisory Committee on Immunization, and the Vice-Chair of Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization.

Adrian AzimAdrian Azim completed his pharmacy degree at UBC in 1998, followed by a Residency in Community Pharmacy Practice. He spent 18 years as an owner-operator of multiple Shoppers Drug Mart locations, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing the level of care provided by pharmacists. In recognition of his contributions, Adrian was honoured with the prestigious Shoppers Drug Mart National Associate of the Year award in 2015. Adrian is a passionate pioneer in healthcare with a focus on travel medicine. After obtaining his ISTM Certificate in Travel Health, he founded Prepared Traveller, a pre-travel consult clinic based in his pharmacy, where he still practices on a part-time basis. Currently, Adrian is a Medical Science Liaison specializing in GI cancers at AstraZeneca. Simultaneously, he is pursuing his Masters in Health Sciences Education at the University of Alberta.

Ryan Beaulieu
Ryan Beaulieu has worked in the travel insurance industry for over 15 years. He has served as Vice President of Operations and is now the current President of Travel Guardian Insurance Ltd. and AwayCare Incorporated; based out of Amherstburg, Ontario. While both organizations specialize in the travel insurance industry, providing tens of thousands of clients with reliable and affordable travel coverage, they differ slightly with Travel Guardian being a direct-to-consumer brokerage and AwayCare being a policy administrator that works with hundreds of broker partners across the country. Ryan has played a significant role in the growth of both companies. Guiding their evolution into powerful, nationally recognized organizations in the travel insurance industry Ryan’s vast product knowledge has led him to develop and design innovative travel policies while always working to educate the consumer, as it relates to the importance of travel coverage. Ryan also enjoys working with several other associations and groups including THIA (Travel Health Insurance Association)
where their mission is to assist in improving industry standards and consumer awareness. Ryan is a husband and father to two daughters and when he isn’t at work, you’ll probably find him spending time with his family, travelling, or participating in some sort of sport (usually as a hockey official) or on the golf course. |
